Research Interests

My thesis is titled ”Understanding endophytes to improve tree health”.  I work on the biology and epidemiology of the European canker of apple trees, caused by the pathogenic fungus nednectriaditissima, and on the development of novel diagnostic tools and alternative biological control strategies for the disease.  To this purpose, I am studying how plant endophytic species affect disease expression and how this can be used for disease management.  My research interests span crop protection, plant pathogen interactions and sustainable agriculture.
