Research Interests

I am interested in the biology of insect crop pests and the application of innovative research to the development of sustainable crop protection.  Much of my previous research has concerned aphids, particularly exploring how these sap-feeding insects overcome host plant defences and transmit viruses.  Current research is focussed on major insect pests of fruit horticulture, with the overall goal of reducing dependency on pesticides.
