Brookdale Consulting was commissioned by East Malling Research (EMR) to assess the impact of EMR’s research. This report sets out an assessment of some key areas of EMR’s work, coinciding with its 100 year anniversary in 2013.
A five year Defra funded project “Development of zero and minimal herbicide regimes for controlling weeds on hard surfaces and determining their emissions” aimed to develop a weed control programme for pavements and roads (amenity use) which minimises risk to the environment (in particular, water quality) compared to using herbicides alone, while still controlling weeds to an acceptable standard. There is more information about the Weeds project in the Resource Efficiency for Crop Production current projects area on this website.
