Biography

Entomologist, pesticide application specialist

My main interests are developing Integrated Pest Management methods and systems and safe and effective spray application methods for fruit and other perennial crops. Key research areas are identification and exploitation for monitoring and control of pheromones and other semiochemicals, cultural, biological, biotechnological and chemical control of pests and adjustment of dose rates and spraying methods to suit the crop.    Current projects include development of a bioactive predator refuge for orchards, use of LiDAR for optimising performance of apple orchards, semiochemical management for raspberry cane midge, management methods for spotted wing drosophila, pesticide dose adjustment for orchards and IPDM programmes for blackcurrants and stone fruits.
